We weren’t prepared, it just started happening, thanks to my over-zealous Mom, Dad, and grandparents who decided to come through from the other side with gusto, in their loud, Italian, please-eat-the-food kind of way. Mom wanted to know about her jewelry cause I was wearing some of it, Dad wanted to play the guitar (he was a professional musician for 60 years), Nana was making pie crust, her apron covered in flour. Craig named names-Dad was Sam “not to be confused with Sammy Davis, Jr” (this was one of the comedy lines he used on stage in the days of the Rat Pack). Mom carried her big pocketbook stuffed with lipstick (typical Mom) and kept complaining that no one was eating the cookies. They also wanted to make sure we knew they weren’t “cafones” (an italian slang word for low class peasant-types). There is no way Craig knew these words or expressions; I knew it was the real deal. I was never afraid, just awestruck. Mom followed us around for the rest of the weekend, making an appearance in the lobby of Congress Hall, promising to join us the next day with Sylvia (Craig couldn’t know this was Mom’s best friend!). Amazing. But it got to the point that I didn’t want to get too close to Craig for fear my mother would interrupt him again, there’s more, but I’ll stop here.

Just know that even though you may not have heard from your loved ones for a while, don’t lose heart, think of them often, they’re right there beside you, in your dreams they’ll visit you. Craig can prove it to you, and you’ll feel so much better for the experience!

With haunted houses, it is difficult to predict when the ghosts will make themselves known. I am glad we had some ghost activity occur that weekend. It’s always great to experience the unexpected…especially in the middle of the night when one least expects it!
