The Ghosts of Cape May, Book 3 is my third installment on my ghostly friends in Cape May, New Jersey. Released in 2008, Book 3 features a new gaggle of ghosts and chillingly haunted encounters by the sea.
As I was finishing the final edits of Book 2, I had already started to receive new leads for more potential investigations. Cape May became the ghost gift that kept on giving. New haunts were turning up left and right, as were, excuse the pun, dead ends. Leads that lead to nowhere and “ghosts” that were no more than squirrels running in the eaves or shutters banging in the wind, also became a more common occurrence. Once I sorted out the true hauntings from the over active imaginations, I was ready to start on Book 3.
Throughout my ghost writing career I would always carry a small hand-held cassette recorder with me on investigations. In the beginning this was done primarily to make a record of my psychic impressions. As interest in recording ghost voices or electronic voice phenomenon (EVP) began to grow, I decided to buy the Adobe® Audition® sound editing software, upload all of my old tapes, and check if I may have captured anything extraordinary on those tapes. While I had, in fact, caught a few EVPs on tape over the years, I could never clearly understand many of these same the EVPs. Once I started uploading the tapes from my investigations, and filtering them with Adobe® Audition,® the ghostly sounds and voices became more apparent. Some of my investigations were actually loaded with EVPs!
As much as I resisted the temptation to get too caught up with ghost hunting equipment, and kept trying to stick with my own “built in” psychic equipment, I could not help but notice the high frequency of EVPs that I was finding on my old tapes. While other investigators were getting one or two EVPs at a haunt, I was getting four, six or even a dozen at some places. Some haunts would yield nothing, but others would be like a cocktail party for the dead! The time had come to start including these amazing bits of physical evidence in my stories. So, in Book 3, I have write extensively on my EVP encounters and eventually, on this website, you will hear (literally) what the ghosts have been talking about.
Coming in at a whopping 290 pages, Book 3 is the biggest yet. In this third of the series, you will visit with the ghosts of a very paranormal neighborhood on Columbia Avenue, who are presently haunting The Linda Lee B & B, The Bacchus Inn B & B and The Jacob Leaming House. The ghost of Jonas Miller returns to his former home, The Parris Cottage on Perry Street from his current haunt, Congress Hall and I will take you along with me during my week-long summer vacation in one of my favorite, and one of the most active houses in town, Ludlam House. Flying bouquets of flowers, moving furniture, phantom footsteps and even a good old-fashioned channeling session give the words, “What I did on my summer vacation,” new meaning!
We return to Jackson Street to explore more haunts on one of America’s most paranormal streets. The Carroll Villa (pictured) and The Virginia Hotel are two of the latest editions to Cape May’s “Ghost Row.” See why the living and the dead love to “hang” on Jackson Street at night.
The Ghosts of West Cape May: Some of the oldest, and most haunted, buildings in Cape May reside in West Cape May, formerly called Eldredge. Some of the B & Bs and Inns in this quaint, off the beaten path part of town date back almost 200 years and have a long history of occupants; both dead and alive. Some of West Cape May’s best known businesses are also some of the most paranormally active and are featured in Book 3; The Albert Stevens Inn (pictured above) The Wilbraham Mansion Eldredge House, Highland House and Flanagan’s Art Studio are all featured. After we pass through the winding streets of West Cape May we will make our way to the enchanted 1859 light house where the spirit of a light keeper’s wife still ascends the old spiral staircase every night to tend the light with two of her dead children in tow! The Ghosts of Cape May, Book 3 is sure to thrill your senses and act as a constant reminder that, we are never alone… at least not in America’s oldest, and most haunted, seaside resort.

BOOK THREE continues to explore the fascinating haunts of Cape May ~ often much farther back in time than the Victorian era charm we associate with Cape May today. It extends the ghostly locale from historic town center into West Cape May, Higbee’s Beach, and the Cape Lighthouse.
THE GHOSTS OF CAPE MAY, Books I and II are must reads too; not only for the WHERE(locales of the ghostly sites), but also for the WHYs; theories of why the spirits remained, and The WHO’s; identities of local ghosts WHO’ve communicated with the author. You’ll find the series a spine tingling read.
*Take the Trolley Tour too, and see the haunted sites by gaslit streets while hearing Cape May’s ghostly tales.

Craig,
Cape May is one of my favorite places. I have all three of your books and I look forward to more. Your writing is detailed and witty. I enjoy your work and look forward to more.
And I do think it’s time you come a bit farther up the coast to Massachusetts !!!! We have spooks here too.

I loved the story about my house, Ludlam house. You captured the energy as you told the story. I could almost feel myself there again with you and our other “paranormal” guests. We continue to have contact, for instance, this summer I was making the bed in the chapel room (pictured above) and was sneezed on by a spirit, right in my ear. I just blessed her and continued to do my task. I have a much better understanding of our spirit energy after spending time with the Ghost Writer of Cape May..

Thanks for the nice words everyone.
Cathy… Great to hear from you! You have one of the most energetic houses I have ever encountered, and it is such a treat that it is also a RENTAL! I look forward to your ongoing restoration work of your grand old Victorian and plan on spending more summer vacation weeks at Ludlam House! – Craig
